U.S.’ 63 lakh cases which could also be eclipsed if the virus continues to spread in the country at the current rate. This is the third highest new cases figure reported by authorities. At the same time, India also reported its highest number of recoveries in a 24-hour span at over 74,000 cases.
Covid-19 virus continues to infect people in India at a record pace at a time the country is opening up its public transport system to support economic activity. India added nearly 90,000 fresh cases in a matter of 24 hours, taking the total tally to over 43.7 lakh in the world’s second-most populous country, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8 a.m. on Sept. 9.
