Low pressure in Bay in 24 hours, Monsoon to make onset soon

The cyclonic circulation over South Andaman Sea and adjoining Malay peninsula continues to prevail over the region. The system is getting more marked by every hour and it is likely to induce a low pressure area during the next 24 hours.

With this, weather conditions will become conducive for the arrival of the Southwest Monsoon over South Andaman Sea and parts of Southeast Bay of Bengal during the next 2-3 days.

According to Skymet Weather, cloud configuration and atmospheric conditions are indicating towards the advancement of the Monsoon winds over the Indian region.The system has already given moderate to heavy rainfall over several parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the last 48 hours. Car Nicobar recorded 67 mm of rain in span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday. This was followed by Long Island at 15 mm, Hut Bay 11 mm, Maya Bandar 8 mm, Nancowry 6 mm and Port Blair 8 mm.

 These rain and thundershowers are likely to intensify further in the coming days, wherein moderate to heavy showers will lash most parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. In fact, few areas might see isolated very heavy rains as well.
