A day after the launch of the book “Gas Wars – Crony Capitalism and the Ambanis”, the authors and distributors were served legal notices by Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) and its chairman Mukesh Ambani. The notices accuse the lead author Paranjoy Guha Thakurta and co-authors Subir Ghosh and Jyotirmoy Chaudhuri of defaming RIL and its chairman in the book, which points out the rise of Ambanis and alleged irregularities in the pricing of natural gas. RIL, in separate notices, has also accused Feel Books Pvt Ltd, Flipkart and Amazon of being party to a “common conspiracy” to “ensure the defamation of our clients for personal gains”. The notice demands to stop the sales of the book and also to destroy the existing copies
